Social Score

Social Score ist das erste interaktive und ortsbezogene Hörerlebnis, das direkt im Browser abgespielt werden kann und über die mögliche Einführung eines Social Scoring-Systems in Deutschland verhandelt.

Die Hörer*innen erleben die Vor- und Nachteile eines solchen Systems während eines Spaziergangs mit der fiktiven KI "AVA". Das Hörerlebnis wird live und individuell komponiert, indem GPS-Positionsdaten analysiert, mit einer Datenbank von Orts- und Objektdaten verglichen und mit einer synthetischen Stimme wiedergegeben werden.

Das Projekt entstand als Teil einer Förderung durch das MIZ Babelsberg und basiert auf dem von sansho entwickelten Konzept "Dynamic Audio", einem Ansatz zur datengesteuerten Audioausgabe auf der Grundlage von Echtzeit-Metadaten der Hörer*innen, wie GPS-Koordinaten, Statistiken oder personalisierten Datensätzen.

Funktionsweise

Social Score ist im Kern ein Hörerlebnis und arbeitet entweder mit vorproduzierten oder live-generierten Inhalten via Text-to-Speech. Inhalte können entweder linear eingebunden werden oder in Kombination mit einem sogennaten Trigger (Auslöser) an eine Bedingung geknüpft sein. Trigger können z.B. Standortdaten sein, aber auch Datensätze oder Entscheidungen, die die Hörer*innen innerhalb der Experience getroffen haben. Unser Format funktioniert als eigenständige Webapp oder auch als eingebettete Funktion innerhalb einer Website, z.B. einer Tageszeitung.

Ablauf

Die Hörer*innen starten auf der Projekt-Webseite, stecken sich die Kopfhörer in die Ohren, geben abschießend Ihren Namen ein und laufen einfach los. Das Hörspiel entwickelt sich dann dynamisch über die jeweils aktuelle Umgebung. D.h. je nachdem wo sich die Nutzer*innen befinden, wird der best passendste Inhalt gewählt und abgespielt. Der Inhalt selbst wir dann wiederum auf die Hörer*innen personalisiert, um so relevant wie möglich zu sein.

Technik

Unser Dynamic Audio Framework besteht zu 100% aus Web Technologien. Das heißt es ist Geräte und Plattform unabhängig.

Für Social Score wollten wir alle Inhalte dynamisch generieren. Deshalb werden die Inhaltsblöcke live via einer Text to Speech Schnittstelle generiert.

Neben eigenständig produzierten Projekten wie Social Score, arbeiten wir an einem Baukasten mit dem Journalist*innen selbst dynamische Geschichten erstellen können.

Dynamic Audio

Warum ist es notwendig?

Während sich visuelle und textbasierte Formate in den letzten 20 Jahren an die Möglichkeiten des Digitalen angepasst haben, sehen wir in der Umsetzung auditiver Formate - und abseits der inhaltlichen Innovation von z.B. Podcasts - ein riesiges ungenutztes Potential, neue Formate mit Hilfe von zeitgemäßen Technologien zu entwickeln und personalisiert an die Nutzer*innen auszuliefern.

Das ist nach unserer Überzeugung relevant, da wir bereits jetzt in einem kaum greifbaren inhaltlichen Überfluss leben. Die aktuelle Aufmerksamkeitsökonomie hat eine noch nie dagewesene Diskussion um Relevanz entfacht.

Was uns aus sicht von Autor*innen allerdings wichtig ist; wir wollen keine klassischen Narrative killen, sondern - mit Hilfe von Technologie - die Möglichkeiten von Storytelling erweitern.

Use cases

Wie bereits angedeutet, sehen wir Dynamic Audio als eine natürliche Weiterentwicklung von klassischen auditiven Formaten, wie es z.B. der Vergleich zwischen einem statischen PDF und einer dynamischen Website zulässt.

• aus redaktioneller Sicht können auditive Inhalte mit personalisierten oder datengesteuerten Inhaltsblöcken erweitert werden, wie es z.B. eine interaktive Karte/Grafik bereits jetzt in textbasierten Artikeln zulässt.
• Audiotheken können ältere Beiträge aktualisieren, ohne das produktionstechnische Aufwände entstehen. Z.B. durch eine Kombination aus Aktualisierung von Datensätzen, die wiederum mit Hilfe von Text-to-Speech maschinell eingesprochen werden.
• unter Einbezug von Nutzerdaten können personalisierte Audioinhalte ausgespielt werden, z.B. können Umgebungsdaten der Nutzer*innen eingebunden werden, um eine visuelle Brücke zu den auditiven Inhalten zu spannen.
• neue Hörspiel-Formate mit einem interaktiven und personalisierten Mehrwert für die Hörer*innen

Ausblick

Wir haben mit Social Score eine erste, erlebbare Variante von unserem Format Dynamic Audio geschaffen. Jetzt freuen wir uns auf eine strategische und konzeptionelle Weiterentwicklung mit Kooperationspartnern aus Journalismus, Gesellschaft und Kultur.
